Jan was superb at free-kicks and penalties in his time as well and the kop was often awaiting the net to burst at times under the pressure of his shots.
Jan was instrumental in the FA Cup success of 1986 over Everton when he turned the game on its head by setting up the first goal and then spreading the ball at every perceivable angle to open the game up completely and eventually for the second and third goals which completed the double.
Jan was given a testimonial by Liverpool and typically of Jan this changed from the normal pay-off to a great player in that it cost Jan money to stage his testimonial after he pledged so much to charity.

Jan was born in Denmark on the 4th of July 1963.
While Jan was out of work he kept his finger on the pulse doing television work for Danish television and also helping out with training at Nuneaton until the call came to rejoin the Harriers as manager for the second time.
Although Jans second term in charge was at first promising by the start of the 04-05 season things were going badly wrong and with the team rooted at the bottom of the League, only one goal scored away from home, a lengthening injury list and no money to spend Jan left again.
Jan's Kidderminster side won the Conference title and thus promotion to the Football League at Easter 2000 after Rushden & Diamonds were unable to match the number of points obtained by Kidderminster.
Jan was rewarded for his success with a new 4 year contract in June 2000.
Molby will lead the side until the end of the season and Kidderminster chairman Colin Youngjohns believes the Dane is the right person for the job.

Jan began his footballing career in his native Denmark at part-timers Kolding at the age of five years old where he went on to spend thirteen years before impressing Dutch giants Ajax, whom he signed for in July 1982 for a fee of £100,000.
Jan's impact was immediate and he took Swansea City to Wembley in his first full season where they narrowly missed promotion to the Second Division via the play-offs courtesy of a last minute goal.
Jan left the Vetch Field five months later after a take-over at the Welsh club.
Just have to say, JanMolby was one of my heroes when he played for us, one of the most underated p;ayers in the world, bascially, that was cos of his size.
I think Digger once said that Jan was one of the best passers of the ball in the world, and he was, his touch, passing and vision was amazing, and he stil has it.
Nobody can get near Molby, he is so good, he was always one of my faves, just used to stand in the centre circle and dictate the whole game.
Today's Western Mail in the story "Molby in Wrexham frame" reports that Kidderminster Harriers Chairman Lionel Newton has given Wrexham the green light to approach Aggborough boss JanMolby if they want to - as long as the Red Dragons agree to pay-up the three years left on Molby's £60,000-per-year contract.
But we do try to play football and Jan's profile has created a lot of interest in the club that we wouldn't have had if he hadn't been here.
With respect to Jan, I feel the step up to someone like Coventry and the First Division would probably be too big at this stage of his career in management.

Kidderminster chairman Colin Youngjohns is confident he can persuade director of football JanMolby to extend his Aggborough contract beyond the end of the season.
Molby arrived in October as successor to the sacked Ian Britton and was charged with the task of keeping the then relegation-threatened Harriers in the Football League.
With the club's Division Three status seemingly assured, having reached the 50-point landmark, Youngjohns is ready to resume negotiations to extend Molby's current deal.

Former Liverpool legend JanMolby expects Liverpool to carry away the FA Cup from the Millenium Stadium on Saturday but expects West Ham to be a dangerous underdog as Rafa Benitez looks to steer the Reds to a second major cup success in two years.
Molby, himself a double winner of the FA Cup in his time on Merseyside, told BBC Sport: "I think Liverpool's extra quality will he crucial, but it won't be easy.
Such form make the Anfield club formidable favoutited against West ham but the east London club are always dangerous and have failed to live up to their ore-season billing of relegation material by finishing 9th in the Premiership and, of course, making it to their first FA Cup final in 26 years.
Kidderminster Harriers are willing to offer manager JanMolby a new four-year contract at the Aggborough Stadium after the former Liverpool midfielder guided the Nationwide Conference club to promotion to Division Three at the first time of asking.
Jan knows that, but if he wants more he can have it.

He should be given time to do the job and not dismissed at the first sign of a problem.
Clueless in the transfer market, foolish on the field and ruthless in the dining room, Molby is closer to the end than even Terry Dolan in my view and 25% of you agree.

JanMolby has been confirmed as new manager of Division Three outfit Hull City, a week after quitting Kidderminster Harriers.
The former Liverpool midfielder has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Boothferry Park, and succeeds Brian Little in the hotseat.
But Kidderminster have hinted they could seek compensation, with a club statement reading: 'The board of directors at Kidderminster Harriers are aware of Mr JanMolby's appointment as manager of Hull City.
It was a happy JanMolby who faced the press after Saturday's dramatic last-gasp victory over high-flying Scunthorpe United at Aggborough.
Molby felt that the thrilling outcome to the game will lift morale around the club, “It was a hell of an afternoon and the most excitement we have seen for a long, long time.
By next weekend Harriers could also add Iyseden Christie to the squad, Molby said, “Christie will crack on this week with training and fitness work.
Gillingham, 15th in the first division, fully deserved their win but had to survive a late barrage during which Carlton Cole pulled one back for the London side.
Wolves also seemed on the way out as Kidderminster, a non-league club until 2000 and managed by former Liverpool and Denmark international JanMolby, went ahead through veteran substitute John Williams after 77 minutes, only for Alex Rae to level at the death.
"We raised our game today and we are very unlucky not to be through," said Molby, who played in four finals for Liverpool.
