Jan Simonsen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jan Simonsen (born March 3, 1953 in Stavanger, Norway) was a member of the Norwegian parliament.
Simonsen on the other hand thought that this was a too generalised term to be acceptable.
Simonsen denied that he had done anything wrong, and stated that he had only helped out a friend who had waited for a long time to get licensed.

Simonsen replied the definition of a child care facility in A.B. 491 was not the definition in statute and the definition in statute was the one they used in the amendment and would include a family day care home.
Simonsen explained that section was the result of a federal audit completed with the Division of Child and Family Services of the Department of Health and Human Services saying there were no sanctions before a license was revoked and a change involving a fine had been requested.
Simonsen interjected she anticipated the board would define what regulations would come under the law and would define what would be a major out-of- compliance area.

A Norwegian politician has proposed the Prime Minister and George W Bush for a joint award in recognition of their achievement in ensuring the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.
Jan Simonsen, from the Right-wing Party of Progress, argued that the leaders deserved credit for laying the foundation of democracy in Iraq.
It should be noted that Jan Simonsen is a known, controversial politician in Norway, and that this is probably more of a PR stunt than a realistic proposition.

Jan Simonsen, a Norwegian MP, yesterday nominated Geldof for the award, saying the Live 8 organiser should receive the honour - handed out every year by the Norwegian Nobel Committee - in recognition of his work to help the world's poor.
"Bob Geldof took the initiative in July 2005 to arrange a string of rock concerts to focus on the problems of poor nations, and pressure the world's leading politicians to take actions in fighting poverty," Mr Simonsen said yesterday.

A crackpot Norwegian legislator named Jan Simonsen created headlines late last month by nominating President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for the Nobel Peace Prize.
"Even though they haven't found those weapons [of mass destruction], they got rid of a dictator and made the world safe," said Simonsen.
The Bush-Blair nomination predictably sent the antiwar left into a rage against the Orwellian logic that two world leaders whose armies overthrew the government of Iraq should be given a prize meant to commemorate peace.
