The Union Law Minister, Jana Krishnamurthy, today indicated that the Government would try to evolve a consensus and bring a Bill in the winter session of Parliament for setting up a National Judicial Commission (NJC), which would be empowered to appoint High Court and Supreme Court Judges.
Krishnamurthy said there was inordinate delay in making appointments to the higher judiciary, and the Constitution Review Commission had recommended the setting up of the NJC.
