Jana Wendt is Australian television's best known female current affairs reporter and presenter.
The daughter of Czech immigrants, Melbourne-born Wendt began her career in journalism researching documentaries for the Government-funded Australian Broadcasting Commission in 1975.
It is a trend which Wendt has consistently resisted and which has led her to become a respected, but somewhat isolated figure in the commercial current affairs landscape of the 1990s.

Jana Wendt is married to cameraman Brendan Ward and has one son, Daniel.

The computer image, superimposing Jana Wendt's face on the "feather" costume of a barrel girl, was published on the colour cover of the Telegraph's supplement "7 days".
Dr Rada complained that the image was misleading in that it could suggest Ms Wendt posed for it, and was "grossly degrading and demeaning to Ms Wendt".
