Mr Truss said the draft master plan forecasts that by 2025, the total annual aircraft movements conducted at Jandakot Airport is expected to be 476,000 compared to 324,308 in 2003.
Mr Truss said Jandakot Airport Holdings (JAH) has stated it wants to use the 148HA of non-aviation land for developments such as showrooms, warehousing and storage, professional and office sites.
Jandakot Airport is now required to publish the final master plan within 90 days of approval and make copies of the plan available to the public.

Opened in 1963, Jandakot Airport is the major General Aviation Airport in Western Australia, and is one of the busiest airfields and largest aviation training base in Australia.
Jandakot is also an important training base for international airline pilots, with Singapore and China Southern operating flying colleges and student accommodation facilities at the Airport.

 MEDIA RELEASE : 23 March 2005 - Final ATSB report into Cessna 404 accident at Jandakot Airport
The ATSBs final report into the fatal aircraft accident at Jandakot on 11 August 2003 has determined that the aircrafts right engine lost power soon after takeoff when its engine driven fuel pump seized.
The Cessna 404 was being operated by one pilot and had five passengers who were to operate specialised equipment on the aircraft during maritime operations approximately 40 NM west of Jandakot.
Jandakot did not have a dedicated aerodrome rescue and fire fighting service and the first local fire fighting unit arrived at the aerodromes emergency gate, about 1,500 m from the accident site about 12.5 minutes after being notified by the police.

 History of the RAAFA Spitfire
On 18 July 1970 the Spitfire was taken down from its pylon as the Air Force Association had sold its building in Perth, and it was taken by road to Jandakot Airport for storage in the Air Culture Ltd hanger.
The Spitfire was repainted at Jandakot Airport in March 1971 and a week later was moved to the Air Force Association’s new premises at Bullcreek, where it was re-erected on its pylon on 13 March 1971.
Due to the ravages of the weather, the Spitfire was removed from its pylon on 21 May 1977 and trucked to Jandakot Airport, where it was placed in the Royal Flying Doctor Service hangar, and the existing paint work stripped off, and the aircraft was refurbished.

The story there is that the folks at the GOANA air safari recommended that I see Chuck at Air Australia at Jandakot airport near Perth.
After some evaluation of my license and talk about requirements for renting, it seemed best to make this a familiarization flight rather than a full checkout because a checkout would be good for two years, and who knows if we'll be back here in that time.

Our return to Jandakot was under the guidance of ATC as the airport is operated as a GAPP aerodrome for 12 hours per day, the changeover from GAPP to MBZ was only minutes away as both Stings were sequenced into crosswind for a normal circuit to runway 24 right.
My aircraft landed normally and I cleared the runway and started to taxi down to our hangerage for the night, the airport then changed to MBZ procedures as Phil in the second Sting was on final and all the circuit traffic was readout before the air traffic controller signed off for the night.
Disaster, first I heard was a call there was a mid air accident at Jandakot and I immediately turned the aircraft around on the taxiway to see two other aircraft taxiing behind me......

There is a bigger picture however that we should all stay alert to and that is that these new owners, whether they be of the major airports or secondary's, is that the trend since privatisation 1997 is that they are Property Developers first and Airport Operators a distant second.
One well known Jandakot character has won a victory over Ascot in their rent case, a good precedent.
The privatisation of the airports is a mess and I agree, we badly need independant scrutiny of the behaviour of these monopoly airport-lessee companies if DoTARS let things that should never have even seen the light of day drag on for months.

In May 1976 the same aeroplane flew for the last time, limping into Jandakot Airport in Perth, Western Australia, on a flight from an inland mining town on three engines.
November 1974 Following Altair's financial collapse the aircraft was repossessed and on 2 November a solicitor's notice was fixed to the Heron stating it was the property of Lease Industrial Ltd of Sydney.
The company was experiencing maintenance difficulties with this ageing aircraft, it was parked in the open at Jandakot, and never flew again.
