Jane's Information Group (often referred to as Jane's) was founded by John F.T. Jane in 1898.
Jane began by sketching ships as an enthusiast, and this gradually developed into an encyclopaedic knowledge, culminating in the publishing of All the World's Fighting Ships.
Jane's Information Group, based in London, is owned by the Woodbridge Company, having been owned by the Thomson Corporation for a number of years.
