The SF Site Featured Review: Donnerjack
Lindskold went back to Zelazny's previous novels, studied his style, his sentence structure, his word usage patterns.
I doubt that anyone was expecting perfection, but I think Lindskold succeeded admirably in what must have been a difficult challenge.
Jane Lindskold lived with him during the final year of his life.

  Jane Lindskold -- Available Books
Wild, strange, and unpredictable, he is known as the Changer: the ultimate vagabond who slips in and out of myths and cultures, refusing to be pinned down to any one origin just as he refuses to be locked into any one shape--or name.
Completed posthumously by his longtime friend and collaborator Jane Lindskold, DONNERJACK is one of two novels Roger Zelazny started before his death.
Jane Lindskold, his partner and a fantasy author herself, completed it from some manuscript, a few notes, and conversations she'd had with him.

This Just In...News from The Agony Column
Jane Lindskold is the author of the popular 'Firekeeper' series, an "if I could talk to the animals" fantasy series that I looked at last year.
Lindskold seems to have discovered a sort of perfect storm of ingredients to make this her most compelling work yet, the kind that could help her break all the way out of the fantasy ghetto and into a fictional mainstream that is ever more welcoming of character-driven, slipstream novels.
Lindskold is smart enough to know how and when to draw elements of the fantastic into her world of domestic bliss.

Jane Lindskold's Through Wolf's Eyes; Wolf's Head, Wolf's Heart; and The Dragon of Despair told the story of Firekeeper, the young girl raised by sentient, language-using wolves who is then plunged back into human society, where her training as a pack animal stands her in good stead amidst political and dynastic intrigues.
As a recent fan of Jane Lindskold's tales of the wolf-girl Firekeeper, I was impressed by the engaging manner in which this novel, the fourth in the saga, began.
In the fourth installment in Jane Lindskold's ongoing Wolf series, the heroine Firekeeper, her sentient wolf companuion Blind Seer, and her friend Derian Carter have all been kidnapped and taken to a nation called Loglimi well south of the locales of their previous adventures.

 William Sanders' Review of Donnerjack
Roger Zelazny, in the final stretches of his life, explicitly designated his friend and lover Jane Lindskold as the person he wanted to complete the book; and he talked with her a great deal about his vision, plot, and character and so on.
It is indeed a measure of her dedication, and a high tribute to her skill, that most reviewers have taken the packaging at face value—or else have frankly admitted that they couldn't tell which parts of the book were written by whom.
And at least Jane was kind enough to spare us a couple of Roger's most annoying mannerisms: the use of technical fencing terms, and the tossing-in of words and phrases in French.

Although it's also true that Lindskold dominates much of the second half of the book, and her long and winding style is pretty apparent for any reader to see.
Though I cannot say for certain that Zelazny told her to do this, she was the executor of his estate, so I can make a reasonably good guess that he trusted her to do what was right.
Jane Lindskold, his beloved friend and companion of this past year, was with him when he died, along with his son Trent, and several of Roger's friends from the SF community.

Jane Lindskold's Child of a Rainless Year, borders on magical realist fantasy, but never quite crosses into the fairy-tale landscape that some writers of the genre reach.
The story is about middle-aged Mira Fenn (or Mira Bogatyr) and her quest to find out what happened to her enigmatic mother, who disappeared when Mira was a child.
But for someone who sees the magic potential of normal, everyday life, and looks to explore some of our own originary stories as we age, this is a worthwhile read.

Lord Demon: Roger Zelazny & Jane Lindskold [Review © T. Brown, 1999]   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Lord Demon is the second of two novels, unfinished by Zelazny at his death in 1995, to have been completed by Jane Lindskold.
As with Donnerjack (1997), Lindskold's influence is easily detected: it's unfair to judge Lord Demon as simply another book by Zelazny, or to assume that this is the novel Zelazny would have completed, alone, if he’d lived.
Maybe it’s an indication that Zelazny himself was moving into a different, more mature phase as a writer: it seems more likely, though, to be Lindskold’s influence, overlaying Zelazny’s plot and characters with themes and motifs of her own.

Again we have a posthumous collaboration between Zelazny and Lindskold, and again we have a fun, thoroughly enjoyable book.
The first-person narrator of Lord Demon is a demon who is one of the greatest of demon warriors, but who has spent most of the last thousand years living in a bottle (much larger on the inside than on the outside) creating fine pottery and eating pizza with his human, Irish drinking buddy.
Lord Demon follows the broad outline of many Zelazny stories: retired hero is living in zennish tranquility, but is rousted out of it by outside events and then takes the lead to restore a new order to the world.
