That was in honor of Paine's treatise "The Age of Reason." In time the name corrupted to "Raisin Street," a slight worsened by the fact that "raisin" was a colloquial term for a slave.
So when the street became city property in 1809, it was rechristened Barrow Street in honor of the artist Thomas Barrow.
One of the TV shows panned the empty streets, Lindel Boulevard, where JP II was supposed to tour from the Bishop's home cathedral enroute to the Trans-World Arena.

He was sent a questionnaire, and he responded, then forgot about it until he accidentally checked his local library in the Sanford White court building known now as the Jefferson Market Library, just across the street from where the Unitarian minister-poet e.
Smith’s interest in economics, he explained, commenced in 10th grade when he won an economics essay at Iowa State University, never having studied the subject.

Page 3 Gillian Goodge, the librarian at the Royal Horticultural Society in London, told me in a phone conversation on Oct. 19, 1998, that most accounts place the old Drill Hall, which was owned by the London Scottish volunteers and was the site for RHS lectures from 1888-1904, somewhere on Buckingham Gate.
She said one source states that Drill Hall was located on Jane Street in the Westminster section of London.
The building, on a street that was in 1910 renamed Invalidenstrasse, has been torn down, replaced by a blocky, cement, Soviet-era building with zero charm.
