Janeane Garofalo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Janeane Garofalo (born September 28, 1964 in Newton, New Jersey), is an American stand-up comedian, actress, political activist, writer and former co-host on Air America Radio's The Majority Report.
Garofalo's comedy shows involve her and her notebook, which is filled with years' worth of article clippings and random observations she references for direct quotes during her act, and uses current events to enhance the improvised, fully conversational aspect of her standup.
Garofalo has been open and outspoken regarding her liberal political views, appearing in the past with figures such as Ralph Nader (whom she supported in 2000, but opposed in 2004) and Jello Biafra at various events.

Salon People | Will success spoil Janeane Garofalo?
Garofalo, a beautiful woman by most standards, is routinely cast as the "ugly duckling " to the point that her "ugliness" has become part of her act and we've bought into it while not really buying it.
Garofalo got her start on TV ("The Larry Sanders Show" and the now defunct "The Ben Stiller Show"), and her film roles have not deviated much from the persona she perfected there.
Although Garofalo never appears on screen in "Felicity," it doesn't change the fact that her role on the show is also representative of the persona she's crafted for herself.

We're not really sure when Janeane -- formerly number one with a bullet in Fametracker's heart -- went from being the wry, acerbic "voice of her generation" to "strident, annoying, and slightly irrelevant annoying B-list celebrity," but we've made several efforts to date the exact moment.
But that Janeane went on from her role as Winona Ryder's second banana to become an unconventional leading lady in her own right was significant -- revolutionary, even.
She was like the Jackie Robinson of tiny, sarcastic comediennes -- and though Alex Borstein's spoof did hit Garofalo close to home, there's a credible argument to be made that, were it not for Garofalo's blazing the trail in her clunky Docs, none of us might even know who Borstein was today.
