		Jani also plays a lot of needless shredding while Syu doesn't.
		A lot of Jani's shredding does add to the feeling of the solo, but majority could have probably been a bit more melodic.
		In all aspects, Jani is faster and much more proficient in the sweep technique.

		In their early days they played some kind of pop/rock-music that cannot be compared to their current style anymore.
		They started as a five-piece band but back then the current bassist Marko Paasikoski, who was also the head-founder of the band, played guitar on the side of Jani Liimatainen and a friend of their's called Pentti Peura played bass.
		After their 3rd demo, Marko decided to leave the band (he already played bass then) and Janne Kivilahti joined as a bassist.

		Rapid-fire drumming, including double bass, comes from Tommy Portimo, on orchestral keys Henrik Klingenberg (replacing Mikko Härkin), speedy classical guitar runs from Jani Liimatainen (though some more subtle work, too), throbbing bass from Marko Paasikoski and those soaring vocals from Tony Kakko.
		With "The Misery," even if the lyrics are a little awkward, the emotion underlying them comes through, and doesn't come across as too very sappy a little yes, but not so much that once winces.
		And you know I gotta love Liimatainen's guitar solo here, because there are hints of Rothery and Gilmour in it, though I'm not suggesting influence, just a similar style and effect.

		Eppure, la qualità non manca: il combo, luci puntate unicamente sulla figura del chitarrista dei Sonata arctica Jani Liimatainen, esprime un Power-Heavy molto melodico, ben suonato e ricco di linee tastieristiche il cui esecutore è lo stesso Liimatainen, elemento la cui importanza all'interno degli Altaria verrebbe sminuita se definita 'di prim'ordine'.
		Questa situazione di stallo, oltre a non presentare la ricetta come carne o pesce, dimostra per l'ennesima volta quanto in tempi odierni l'Heavy Metal affascini i musicisti contemporanei, i quali ne vengono attratti tutt'altro che sensibilmente ma non riescono a riproporlo in maniera degna.

		In 1999 werden de single 'UnOpened' en het album 'Ecliptica' uitgebracht, die in de power metal gemeenschap goed ontvangen werden.
		Op dit punt bestond de band uit Tony Kakko (zang/toetsen), Jani Liimatainen (gitaar), Tommy Portimo (drums) en Janne Kivilahti (bass).

		What I love about Sonata Arctica is that they have such amazing verse- and bridge melodies for vocals, keyboards and guitar, and for you who likes that you are in for a real treat because this album is filled with that, and it's done in one of the best possible ways.
		Jani has a real good guitarsound, and I have always like his playing and he is really in shape on this album as well as singer Kakko that really proves that he masters his profession with the honours.
		The keyboards and the backingvocals are worth mentioning too as ever instrument are a perfect compliment to each other and sounds so full, compact and comlete.

		The music of Altaria can be described as clean, melodic metal, sometimes borderline AOR, even a bit poppy at times, as they remind me in a way to Europe: catchy songs, but less crunchy guitars as you would expect.
		This disappointed me a bit, as guitarist Jani Liimatainen (Sonata Artica) is an excellent guitar player, and fortunately he does play some really great parts, but mainly the sound is on the level of AOR bands, which might be the reason why they signed to Metal Heaven, which is a division of AOR Heaven.
		Founding members Tony Smedjebacka (bass) and Marko Pukkila (drums), prove to be the solid foundation and in addition to guitars, Liimatainen also takes the keyboard parts for his account.

		Turning the page in 1999, Tricky Means recorded a new demo "FullMoon" in Tico Tico Studios located in their hometown, Kemi.
		At the time of recording the line-up consisted of: Tony (vocals/keys), Jani (guitars), Tommy (drums), and Janne (bass).
		This new demo was the first exploration for the band in heavy metal waters.

		Sonata Arctica is a Finnish power metal band from the town of Kemi, originally assembled in 1996.
		In 1999, the band entered studios to record a demo enititled FullMoon, their line-up composed by Tony Kakko, guitarist Jani Liimatainen, bassist Janne Kivilahti and drummer Tommy Portimo.
		The demo was then sent to Spinefarm Records and the band changed its name to Sonata Arctica.

		Der auf dem Debüt noch vorhandene Gitarrist Emppu Vourinen von Nightwish hat nach seinem Abgang offensichtlich reichlich Spuren hinterlassen, denn "Divinity" klingt die meiste Zeit über wie alte Nightwish mit männlichem Gesang.
		Ständiges Gedüdel, wie es Gitarrist Jani Liimatainen mit seiner Hauptband Sonata Arctica abliefert, bleibt einem also glücklicherweise erspart.
		Leider sind alle Songs in ziemlich ähnlichem Tempo angesiedelt, was es relativ anstrengend und langweilig gestaltet die Scheibe am Stück durchzuhören.
