On January 4th and 5th, Saturn also crossed in front of the high and far-off Crab Nebula (M1), a cosmic cloud of debris from a stellar explosion and first on the list of astronomer Charles Messier's celestial sights.
Taken on January 2nd, a few days before their closest encounter, this composite digital image illustrates the problem.
The well-exposed Saturn image was also taken on January 2nd, but captured with an exposure lasting only a fraction of a second, in contrast with the tens of seconds of exposure time required to reveal the Crab.

These requirements include the independence of audit committee members, the audit committee’s responsibility to select and oversee the issuer’s independent accountant, procedures for handling complaints regarding the issuer’s accounting practices, the authority of the audit committee to engage advisors, and funding for the independent auditor and any outside advisors engaged by the audit committee.
On January 8, 2003, the SEC appointed Charles D. Niemeier to be the Acting Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, which was established by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

S/S Norway for the cruise of December 28, 2002 — January 5, 2003, reported 105 of 2,204 passengers (4.8%) and 11 of 937 crew (1.2%) with gastrointestinal illness.
On January 1, 2003, the vessel filed a special report documenting 5 of 97 passengers (5.2%) and 5 of 34 crew (14.7%) with a gastrointestinal illness.
The vessel is not scheduled to return to the U.S. until March 2003.

A: At the opening of the 108th Congress in January, Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York introduced legislation to reinstate the draft, a compulsory method of calling up men and women from ages 18-26 to serve in the military.
His bill would require young Americans to enlist in the military or perform mandatory national service with no exemptions for higher education.
