As of late January 2003 there were two carrier battle groups in the area, and one amphibious group, for a total of around 34,000 naval personnel.

On December 30, 2003, Sunoco completed its purchase of El Paso's 150,000-bbl/d Eagle Point refinery and related assets in New Jersey for $130 million.
During 2003, the United States produced around 7.8 million barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil, of which 5.7 million bbl/d was crude oil, and the rest natural gas liquids and other liquids.
Overall, the top suppliers of crude oil to the United States during January-October 2004 were Canada (1.6 million bbl/d), Mexico (1.6 million bbl/d), Saudi Arabia (1.5 million bbl/d), Venezuela (1.3 million bbl/d), and Nigeria (1.1 million bbl/d).

The previous Ontario government announced in its 2003 budget that it planned to reduce capital tax rates over the next few years, and that it would eliminate capital taxes completely at the same time as the federal government eliminated the Large Corporations Tax.
Ontario's Corporations Tax Act currently legislates that the rate will decrease to 11% as of January 1, 2004, to 9.5% as of January 1, 2005, and to 8% as of January 1, 2006.
The Premier has announced that the general corporate tax rate will increase from its current level of 12.5% to 14%, the rate in effect on September 30, 2001, before the previous provincial government's cuts.

Brian Marsden notes on MPEC 2003-R45 [2003 September 9] that the "original" and "future" barycentric values of 1/a are +0.006356 and +0.006809 (+/- 0.000011) AU**-1, respectively, and the eccentricity is 0.9814155 showing that this is not a "new" comet from the Oort cloud.
