Eddie Tolan of Michigan and Glenn (Slats) Hardin of Louisiana State College shared the plaudits of the crowd with Miss Didrikson and Sexton, but Germany, Poland and Ireland also came in for the distribution of the day's honors with the brilliant performances of Arthur Jonath, Janusz Kusocinski and Bob Tisdall, respectively.
Tolan and Jonath broke the Olympic record in the 100-meter dash, the latter also tying the mark; Hardin and Tisdall slipped under the record in the 400-meter hurdles, and Kusocinski shattered the record for the 10,000-meter run.
There was glory enough for all to share, but it was the herculean Sexton who was the man of the hour today.
