Yamashiro, force flagship, continued North up the straits until she was confronted by and literally blown apart by Admiral Oldendorf's battleline, comprised of five battleships, four of which had been at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, as well as numerous cruisers.
Yamashiro is no exception, so I used brass PE parts in lieu of a small number of the cast parts that came in the box.

Her 14 inch (360 mm) main gun turrets were placed in an unorthodox 2-1-1-2 style (with her sister ship Yamashiro having her third turret reversed when compared to Fuso) and with a funnel separating the middle turret placement.
Yamashiro, having seen her crippled sister withdraw, elected to press on and steamed straight towards the American battle-line, which (having thereby "crossed her T") then pounded Yamashiro to ruin in less than thirty minutes.
Yamashiro's shelled wreck drifted for some time, and was eventually sunk by torpedoes from a US destroyer, with few survivors.

The Fuso class battleships were characterized by their tall superstructures.  Although they were more heavily armed and faster than most foreign battleships of the time, they lacked much in armor.  These ships were already out dated by World War II and were easily sunk by US naval Forces.
The Nagato class of battleships not only was the first Japanese battleships to sport the 16” guns, but also the first in the world to have them.  She was also faster and bettered armored than most her counterparts of the day.
The fourth Yamato class of battleship was laid 7 November 1940.  However, it was cancelled in 1942 and scrapped in 1943.
