More Details on Elliott Jaques's Publications
This is the report of the first three years of work carried out by Elliott Jaques on behalf of the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in collaboration with the Glacier Metal Company-an engineering factory in London employing some five thousand people.
Jaques agrees with those who reject the lump-of-labor fallacy and who realize that any nation has as much work as it wants for everyone, regardless of economic conditions.
Jaques' book sets out the most significant advance in the understanding of bureaucracy since Max Weber's Theory of Social and Economic Organization.

Orders connected to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
According to the Author Roger Peyrefitte, in his book "The Knights of Malta" Secker and Warburg, London, 1960, the last Grand Master of the Temple, Jaques de Molay, appointed the Hospitallers heir to the Templars, the documentary evidence of which had been maintained a secret within the Order.
The Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem owes its origins to Godfrey de Bouillon of the first Crusade, who gathered around him a group of Knights who were entrusted with the protection of the religious Chapter of Canons at the Holy Sepulchre of Christ in 1100.
When the Prior, Louis De Manes, died in July 1611 there were no members of the community resident in the "Maison".

House of Staunton - Premium and Antique Chess Sets
What is known is that, on 1st March, 1849, Nathaniel Cook, 198, Strand, London, registered an Ornamental Design for a set of Chess-Men, under the Ornamental Designs Act of 1842.
Complaints from players about the unsuitability of many of the contemporary designs for practical play led Jaques to search for a standard design which could be produced at a reasonable cost.
A plausible scenario, if Cook was Jaques' Brother-in-law as claimed by the family, is that the set was actually designed by John Jaques, a noted ivory tuner and business man, who undoubtedly produced many different pattern sets for various retailers in the area.
