Jarvis Branson Cocker (born 19 September 1963, in Sheffield, England) is an English pop musician, best known for fronting the band Pulp.
Cocker famously invaded the stage at the 1996 Brit Awards to protest against Michael Jackson's performance.
Cocker was later detained and interviewed by the police on suspicion of assault and found himself being defended by the comedian and former solicitor, Bob Mortimer.

The first line-up was Cocker, David Lockwood, Mark Swift and Peter Dalton, though this soon disintegrated into a fairly un-set membership of Cocker and whoever else was around at the time.
This gave Cocker ample time to consider his direction, and when, later, Freaks failed to be a success, Pulp folded, with Jarvis going off to London to study film.
Cocker was also having difficulty with the celebrity lifestyle, battling cocaine addiction like most of his peers and a breakup of a long-term relationship.

I'm a fan of Pulp, but I never spent much time poring over photos of the band.
Somehow, listening to their records, I didn't picture Jarvis Cocker looking like an idealistic young reporter in a mid-70's Washington, D.C. newsroom.
The trailer is full of weird looking people, and normal people made to look weird: a strangely cornered-looking Bono, a slightly effeminate Edge, Nick Cave just being himself, and some guy named Antony having an epileptic fit onstage.
