That Sum 41 have come this far is something of an underdog story considering the band didn't emerge from any sort of Punk Rock hotbed.
The four band members -- Whibley, drummer Steve "Steveo32" Jocz, guitarist Dave "Brownsound" Baksh and bassist Jason "Cone" McCaslin -- grew up as school age friends in Ajax, Ontario, about a half-hour train ride from Toronto, didn't have much of a Punk scene.
Before long Whibley and Jocz had started an early version of the group, and after going through a list of guitarists and bassists almost too long for them to remember, the duo persuaded Baksh and McCaslin, who had been playing in other bands, to join Sum 41.
