		Guitarist Michael Romeo had already been receiving a lot of praise and attention for his self produced solo-tape "The Dark Chapter", which eventually led to the birth of Symphony X. Joining Michael at first was bass player Thomas Miller, who had played with Michael on numerous occasions in the past.
		Their first self titled offering was recorded in Autumn 1994 and was subsequently released in Japan in December of the same year.
		Not content to sit back and rest on their laurels, the band set off to write and record a follow up that was completed in early 1998.

		Hey Genista, has Jason Rullo played in any other bands other than Symphony X? When I read the name in the cover of the album I just bought, I'd just about swear I've heard his name before somewhere.
		Also, Portnoy does play everything in his kit, yes he is overrated by those who are sheltered, but he does do a good job with all the parts of his kit.
		Jason working on some new material with the X guys and that should be really good.

		Symphony X's live cd is good place to check out Jason's playing he is great but different to Portnoy, Jason's plays heavier faster music but still very technical.
		Anyways, I posed this question because recently a friend of mine (also a guitarplayer...maybe that's saying something, but probably not, hehe [img]smile.gif[/img]) and I were discussing DT and SX - and their respective drummers.

		I had met Bernie Versailles by this time, and he had a couple of songs that were pretty different from what he was doing in Agent Steel, and I met Jason Rullo of Symphony X at the first ProgPower show and asked him if he'd be available to drum on it.
		I had hoped to work with Jason Rullo on drums, but Symphony X is an extremely active band between writing, recording and touring, and even though Symphony X was going to play at the same festival, the logistics of rehearsing wouldn't have worked.
