Jason Matthew Thirsk (December 25, 1967 – July 29, 1996) was the former bass player of the California punk band Pennywise.
Thirsk, who had been in rehabilitation for alcoholism and who had also suffered from major depression, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 27.
The band re-recorded the song after his death as a tribute to their fallen bandmate, including the line "Jason Matthew Thirsk this one's for you...", and it appears as the final track on the Full Circle album which was released in 1997.

In 1989 the band its original incarnation, the band consisted of Jim Lindberg[?] (vocals), Fletcher Dragge[?] (guitar), Byron McMackin[?] (drums) and Jason Thirsk[?] (bass).
In 1996, Pennywise began recording their fourth album; Thirsk left to try and quit drinking; he was successful but then committed suicide after a relapse on July 29, 1996.
After Jason Thirsk's death, Full Circle[?] (1997) and Straight Ahead[?] (1999) were somewhat less popular than the last few albums.
