 Leinart Named Walter Camp Foundation Player Of The Year :: Leinart also joins Cody and Grootegoed on Walter Camp All-American team.
Junior quarterback Matt Leinart has been selected as the 2004 Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year the foundation announced on Thursday (Dec. 9) while Leinart, senior defensive tackle Shaun Cody and senior linebacker Matt Grootegoed were all named to the 2004 Walter Camp All-American first team.
Leinart is the 38th recipient of the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and the fourth Trojan (O.J. Simpson, 1967 and 1968; Charles White, 1979; and Marcus Allen, 1981) to capture the honor.
Leinart's and Grootegoed's All-American nods were their second of the postseason after being named earlier to the Football Coaches Association team.
