		Construction was completed on 28th January, 1982 and the eighth, and last, session of the second Parliment commenced in the building on 15th February of the same year.
		The Jātiyo Sangshad Bhaban is a part of the entire Jātiyo Sangshad complex, which includes lawns, lake and residence for the Members of the Parliament (MPs).
		Although entrance to the Bhaban, the Main Building, is prohibited to unauthorised personnel, the Jātiyo Sangshad complex is open to visitors.

	Mystery fire in Parliament building
		A mysterious fire broke out in three places inside the Sangsad Bhaban on the morning of 8 April.
		The announcement said that "miscreants" had set fire to a carpet outside the main gate of the office of the Speaker on level-5; inside the office of the administrative officer of the Law Section on Level-5 in the East Block; and the duct door of the building in front of Committee Section-9 on Level-7.
		A press release, signed by MA Halim, Director of Public Relations of Sangsad Bhaban, said that the fire occurred between 8:00 am and 9:45 am.
