Guitarist Javier Batiz, 56, hails from Tijuana, B.C., Mexico (he still resides in the house where he was born), but doesn’t play stereotypical Latin American music (terms such as norteño, ranchera, and banda might come to mind).
Batiz has been-purveying his unique music in his native land for decades, and his playing abilities have garnered attention and accolades from other notable musicians, some of whom consider him to have a mentor and inspiration.

Mexican rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Mexico, Spanish language covers of rock standards by Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and The Everly Brothers among many others, were the first records of the genre in that country.
Soon, however, Mexican bands like Los Rebeldes del Rock, Los Locos del Ritmo, Los Crazy Boys and specially Javier Bátiz arose with original compositions, though there was little interest in them, because now all the attention was paid to the new fashion that came from Britain known as the Ola Inglesa(British Invasion).
However, after the substantial success of native Santana in The United States in the late 1960s, there was a boom of emerging groups that sang in English, probably considering an eventual breakthrough up the border.
