Blackball's debut release was taped live on April 30, 1996, an unforgettable Jawbreaker show at the Warfield in San Francisco featuring three previously unreleased songs.
It is equally unsurprising that the Jawbreaker legend has steadily grown, to the point where it's time to begin unearthing any remaining material from the band's vaults.
After several years touring with bands like Built to Spill, Come and Blonde Redhead, landing songs on various film and television soundtracks, and appearing with Wilco on HBO's Reverb, Schnabel took time off from music to write a novel chronicling her major label trial by fire.

 Bad Girls from Valley High
Bad Girls from Valley High is the story of three unimaginatively named popular girls who “rule the school” (you know, just like in Heathers, Clueless, Jawbreaker, Mean Girls, etc).
One of the scenes is just an extended version of a scene that’s in the film, and cutting it didn’t seem to improve it that much.
Bad Girls from Valley High sounds like a low-budget drive-in TandA movie from 1976, the kind of flick they’d sandwich in the middle of a triple bill between Satan’s Cheerleaders and Caged Heat.

 Entertainment World's DVD Reviews
The film attempts to be in the same vein as the successful teen movie "Jawbreaker".
In addition, when watching the film I keep thinking that Director on this project had to be a TV Director because he seemed to being pushing Christopher Llyod to do way too much stick.
Starring Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future trilogy) and acclaimed actress Janet Leigh (Psycho), Bad Girls From Valley High is the all-new screamingly funny thriller that proves that high school can be hell, but popularity can be murder.

Gayheart, if not widely known, has certainly increased her recognition with her work in films such as Urban Legend and Jawbreaker.
Her next project, the Heathers take-off Jawbreaker, faltered both at the box office and with critics, but did Gayheart the service of casting her in another leading role, helping to increase her fresh-scrubbed profile.
Her first project after Scream 2 was in Nothing to Lose, but her following film, 1998's Urban Legend, was successful enough to earn her a place among Hollywood's latest batch of up-and-coming starlets.

Directed by Mark S. Waters ( Freaky Friday), it is very reminiscent of teen revenge films Heathers, (a film penned by Waters' brother Daniel) and Jawbreaker but without the deaths and dark humour.
In addition to a strong cast and excellent directing by Waters, the film is blessed with the writing talent of Tina Fey, one of the head writers for Saturday Night Live and co-anchor for that show's consistently funny Weekend Update.
The supporting cast deserve a lot of credit too - Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan are terrific as Cady's quirky friends Damian and Janis and Rajiv SurendraÂ’s turn as a mathelete who wants to be a rapper is scene-stealing.

Sugar and Spice seems designed to amuse people who believe that all teenagers are total morons, which might seem like a subversive tactic for a teen movie, but the film's smugness quickly becomes tedious.
Like the excruciating Jawbreaker, Sugar and Spice cops an in-your-face attitude but is far less clever than it thinks it is. Mandy Nelson's script doesn't even match the quality of middling teen-TV fare like Popular or Grosse Point, never mind movies like Election, Clueless or Rushmore.
That's why one of the most disappointing things about Sugar and Spice is its lacklustre cheer routines.
