The Wodeyar dynasty(also spelt as Wadiyar-by the Royal family members themselves and also as odeyar by some) was an Indian royal dynasty that ruled the Kingdom of Mysore from 1399 to 1947, until the independence of India from British rule and the subsequent unification of British dominions and princely states into the Republic of India.
The rule of the Wodeyar dynasty was disrupted during the 18th century by the ascent of Hyder Ali and his son, Tipu Sultan.
H.H. Vani Vilas Sannidhana, queen of Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, was the Regent from 1894 to 1902.

Jaya Chama Raja Wadiyar Bahadur GCSI GCB (1919–1974), or more commonly known as Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, was the 25th and the last King from the illustrious Wadiyar (Wodeyar) dynasty, which ruled the Indian state of the Kingdom of Mysore from 1399 to 1950.
He also sponsored the translation of many classics from Sanskrit to Kannada as part of the Jayachamaraja Grantha Mala, including 35 parts of the Rigveda.
The wedding was held on May 15, 1938.

During the Blitz his devoted pupil Edna Iles gave the Medtners shelter in Warwickshire, initially at Wythall and later at Wootton Wawern, where he completed his Third Piano Concerto, performing it at a 1943 Promenade Concert.
The Maharajah of Mysore, His Highness Jayachamaraja Wodeyar Bahadur, himself a music lover and amateur pianist, founded a Medtner Society with the objective of recording all Medtner's works.
Medtner was already in declining health but managed to record all three concertos with the Philharmonia Orchestra (whose first president was the Maharajah) plus some sonatas, chamber music, and a good selection of songs and shorter piano works before his death.
