Brun wants to make “old-style” Beaujolais and his vinification differs from the prevailing practices in the region.
Brun’s view is that Beaujolais drinks best at a lower degree of alcohol and that there is no need to systematically add sugar to the must (chaptalize) to reach alcohol levels of 12 to 13 degrees.
Brun’s wines are not ‘blockbusters’ in the sense of ‘big.’ The emphasis is not on weight, but on fruit: Beaujolais as it once was and as it should be.

Such feelings call to mind the ancient cult of Dionysus, who is associated in myth and legend with the intoxication induced by the fruit of the vine and by the renewal of nature in springtime.
In a remarkable book that has been unjustly neglected since its publication in 1967, the French philosopher Jean Brun makes this connection between Dionysus and technology-a connection which at first seems outlandish, in light of the traditional association of this god with drunkenness and orgiastic practices.
According to Brun, the figure of Dionysus helps explain the relationship that has arisen between art and technology since the nineteenth century, paralleling the development of photomechanical, electrical, electronic, and digital methods of processing sound and image.

Marie Sallé is known, and is found on Acadian censuses as widow of Jean or Jehan Claude; it was assumed that the census takers omitted his surname, Landry.
A fourth migration of a Landry family was that of two sons of Jean Jacques Landry and Susanne Catherine Frasse (or Fraze), Jean Jacques Henry Landry and Charles Henri Landry.
