Jean Cabannes (Marseille August 12 1885 - Saint-Cyr sur mer October 31 1959) was a (The Romance language spoken in France and in countries colonized by France) French physicist specialising in (The branch of physics that studies the physical properties of light) optics.
Cabannes, P. Daure and Y. Rocard were among the scientists that, in 1928, discovered that gases diffusing monochromatic light could also change its wavelength.
Cabannes was among candidates for the (additional info and facts about Nobel Prize in Physics) Nobel Prize in Physics of 1929 (proposed by C. Fabry), which was awarded to (French nuclear physicist who generalized the wave-particle duality by proposing that particles of matter exhibit wavelike properties (1892-1987)) de Broglie.

Cabannes is a lunar impact crater that lies in the southern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon.
The satellite crater 'Cabannes J' is attached to the southeast rim, and lies between Cabannes and the heavily impacted Berlage crater.
Just to the east is the Bellinsgauzen crater, and to the south is the large Antoniadi crater formation.

Such long-term investment on genomics is made in collaboration with two microarrays core facilities, that of the french Genopole (Evry) and that of the Institut Pasteur (J-Y Coppée).
