Lana Turner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lana Turner (February 8, 1921 – June 29, 1995) was an American actress famed early in her career for tight sweaters and smoldering sensuality and later in her career for sudsy romance films with maximum tragedy and glamorous gowns.
Turner earned the nickname the "Sweater Girl" due to a scene in her debut movie They Won't Forget (1937), in which her breasts bounced in a tight sweater.
Off-screen, Turner was married eight times to seven different husbands, and had many lovers, including Tyrone Power (whom she calls the love of her life in her autobiography), Howard Hughes (who is reported to have given her syphilis), and a minor gangster named Johnny Stompanato who was fatally stabbed by Turner's daughter, Cheryl Crane.

Turner came into her own after the war in steamy melodramas such as The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946, a tough but oddly glamorous version of a gritty James M. Cain novel) and Cass Timberlane (1947), but she was still often called upon to add star appeal without having to carry a pic ture.
Turner's TV appearances include a starring role in Harold Robbins' continuing saga, "The Survivors," a 1969-70 series; she also put in the obligatory stint on "Love Boat" and appeared briefly in the serial "Falcon Crest" (1982-83).

SNYDER, J. James E. and L. Jean Turner, d/b/a EPCO Limited Partnership of Wisconsin, seek to avoid paying a real estate transfer fee, interest, and a penalty assessed by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue on a conveyance of property to their newly formed limited liability partnership.
The Turners' WTAC brief states that if EPCO were not a partnership, "it would be exempt under 77.25(8m), as the legislature intended to exempt husband/wife transactions." As a result, the WTAC does not consider §77.25(8m) in its decision and order.
The Turners argue that a correction deed naming the Turners as grantees was filed; therefore, the conveyance was between EPCO and James and Jean.

For centuries, French turners were among the best in Europe, and a turner who had completed a traditional apprenticeship there had a grasp of the intricacies of the craft as good as any in the world.
However, as a turner skilled primarily in fine spindle work, he found it easiest to sell his lidded boxes with delicately-turned finials, and these became his most distinctive pieces.
Inspired by the traditional French bone turners, his "Box" (12) in bone and walnut is a continuing exercise in exquisite tool control, balance, and simple fun.
