Jean-Louis Roux, CC (born May 18, 1923) is a noted entertainer and playwright, senator, and briefly Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, Canada.
Controversy reemerged when pictures showing Roux wearing a swastika were found, and evidence emerged that Roux had played an active role in Quebec's pro-Nazi movement in the 1930s.
On May 31, 1997 Roux returned to public life when the government appointed him to be chair of the Canada Council.

Roux, in an interview, had admitted that he had worn a swastika on his lab coat during the war and had joined in an anti-conscription rally which turned into an anti-Jewish rally.

B'nai Brith Canada today called on Quebec's Lieutenant Governor, Jean-Louis Roux to go one step further than his response thus far, and categorically denounce his own actions as a Nazi sympathizer in the early 1940's, and to denounce anti-Semitism in all its forms.
In an interview in l'Actualite magazine, Roux not only admitted that he had worn swastikas during World War II and sympathized with fascist leaders, but that in 1942, he participated in a violent demonstration where windows of stores owned by Jewish merchants in Montreal were smashed.
Roux the opportunity to strengthen his initial response within 48 hours.

MONTREAL - Quebec Lieutenant-Governor Jean-Louis Roux resigned from his position November 5, a few days after admitting he wore a swastika during World War II and participated in a demonstration against the conscription during which windows of Jewish stores were smashed.
Welcoming Roux's resignation, Quebec premier Lucien Bouchard called the position of lieutenant-governor "a colonial relic." The Quebec government strongly opposed Jean-Louis Roux's appointment on September 12.
Senator Jacques Hébert said that Roux's generation "had been poisoned by the nationalists of the time." He added that he had been saved "from becoming perhaps a nationalist and a racist" by his father who sent him to a college outside Quebec.
