Jean-Marie Messier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jean-Marie Messier (born December 13, 1957) is a French businessman known for his flamboyance.
A little over a year later, on July 3, 2003, Messier was ousted as boss of Vivendi, whose stock soared on the news.
This was Liontos's second public scandal; her first occurred in the mid '90s when she was permanently expelled from the exclusive Metropolitan Club in New York City for having had ongoing liasons on club premises with the club manager.

Excerpt: The Man Who Tried to Buy the World
As Rupert Murdoch, with whom Messier was obsessively and self-destructively competitive, once told the Financial Times: "Jean-Marie's problem is that he's never met a journalist he didn't give an interview to." Messier's version of events coincides all too rarely with the eyewitness accounts given by the hundreds of people interviewed by the authors.
Messier depicted himself as a prophet without honor in his own country, a crusader for a reformed, shareholder-friendly form of French capitalism who was unfairly deposed by a reactionary counterrevolution.
Messier had long presented himself as an exception to the "French exception," the cherished idea that France can hold back the tide of globalization and preserve the country's distinctive economic model in the face of an encroaching ultraliberal free-market capitalism.
