EconPapers: THE BLANCHARD AND KAHN' S CONDITIONS IN MACRO-ECONOMETRIC MODELS WITH PERFECT FORESIGHT
If the Blanchard and Kahn's conditions are satisfied for the model written in reduced variables and in the expanded variable, then the model has a unique solution stable in the absolute difference.Hysteresis can be easily identified by the existence of eigenvalues equal to 1 in the model written in reduced variables.
Blanchard and Kahn established local conditions for these properties, which are easy to check, in terms of eigenvalues computed at the steady state of the model.
In these both situations the coefficients of the linear approximation of the model are constant and we can apply Blanchard and Kahn's results.

SeacoastNH.com :: First Balloon Over NH
Blanchard himself remarked that he had "brought with me from Europe only 4200 weight of vitriolic acid, the quantity to effect my own ascension, once." He estimated that a similar amount of acid, if it could be procured in America at all, "would cost at least 100 guineas" —the equivalent of more than $400.
Blanchard had not purchased much advertising in the Portsmouth Oracle, rival to the Gazette, and the Oracle reporter was disinclined to praise the enterprise that had enriched a competitor.
Her tragic end wrote a final chapter to the saga of the Blanchards, a story that had thrilled Europeans and had once caused all of America to lift her eyes to the sky.

 Jean Blanchard
Jean Pierre François Blanchard was born July 4, 1753 in Petit Andelys, France.
In the same year, Blanchard gave the first successful demonstration of the use of a parachute when a basket containing a small animal was dropped from a balloon and parachuted to earth, foreshadowing later parachute descents of Andre Garnerin.
In addition to his balloon flights in France and the United States, Blanchard is also credited with the first balloon flights in Germany, Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands.

Les Magnifique Ride Again by Angela Field
Jean Pierre had never been a man who prayed, but he had prayed for Blanchard, appalled at the damage inflicted on him and hoping that someone would forgive him enough to take mercy and ease him free of his pain before the guards came to drag him to his execution.
Jean Pierre shivered with the chill that nibbled on his bones, watching the annoyed, swearing guards dragging Blanchard's body from the cell.
Jean Pierre was afraid of the revolution he could see coming and he had done his best to make Robert see past the glorious pattern to the ugly underside.

 AIR SPORTS INTERNATIONAL
Though Blanchard needed Jeffries to pay for the expedition, he certain did not want Jeffries to accompany him and share the glory of being the first to cross the Channel.
The result of his investigations was his visseau volant "flying vessel." A totally impractical "aeroplane." Realising his flightless flying machine would never bring him riches, Blanchard turned his attention to the newly invented gas balloon.
Flying for fame and money, the egotistical Blanchard was the first great aerial showman, stuntman, and occasional conman.

 MSN Encarta - Parachute
The French aeronaut Jean Pierre Blanchard dropped a dog equipped with a parachute from a balloon in 1785.
The use of the parachute was also suggested by Leonardo da Vinci, but the first practical parachute was invented in the 1780s.
Twelve years later, on October 22, 1797, André-Jacque Garnerin jumped from a hot air balloon over Parc Monceau in Paris and descended using a cloth parachute.

The Winged Heart - Those Times and These 1 (2)
The U.S. has to wait until January 9, 1793 (but once again the visitor is Jean-Pierre Blanchard), if we exclude 13-year-old Edward Warren from Baltimore who is said to have been sent aloft on June 24, 1784, in a tethered hot air balloon that was too small to carry its designer, Peter Carnes.
The pilot is Jean-Pierre Blanchard (1753-1809), another Frenchman.
Blanchard is not alone in the basket, although there are indications that he would have preferred a solo flight.

 Historical Review - ParachuteHistory.com
The first emergency use of a parachute was made by Jean Pierre Blanchard in 1785 after the hotair balloon he was in exploded.
Blanchard also worked on a foldable silk parachute, for until then all parachutes were constructed with a rigid frame.
In 1797, Andrew Garnerin made the first jump with a parachute without a rigid frame.
