Jeff Beck continues to perform shows on a regular basis, including opening for B.B. King in the summer of 2003.
Beck was one of the first electric guitarists in the 1960s to experiment with electronic distortion (most notably in The Yardbirds' 1966 album, Roger the Engineer) and helped to redefine the sound and role of the electric guitar in rock music.
Beck's work with The Yardbirds and The Jeff Beck Group's 1968 album Truth were seminal influences on heavy metal music, which emerged in full force in the early 1970s.

Beck was one of the first electric guitarists to experiment with electronic fuzz distortion and noise, pushing the Yardbirds' lead guitar part to previously unreached horizons and helping to redefine what electric guitar could do just before the rise of Jimi Hendrix.
Jeff Beck left the Yardbirds in late 1966, partly because of failing health, after a brief dual-lead guitar role with Jimmy Page, who had recently joined.

Beck seems to be spending most of the time delivering the same type of leads, but there's a lot of whacko guitar work as well ("The Hangman's Knee").
Beck's playing strength is his multitude of ideas, style shifts (Shaft-like, light jazz, slide), but most importantly his ability to coax emotion out of his playing when he wants to ("Cause We've Ended as Lovers" where the guitar pleads for its life, or the forlorn "Diamond Dust").
Beck had finally ditched any attempts at vocals with Blow by Blow, and by now was squarely focused on his fusion playing, usually trading solos with either Middleton or ex-Mahavishnu Orchestra member Jan Hammer.

Jeff had been rumoured to have played on one cut of this album since 1975 but it hadn't been confirmed until 2000 when a CD of the album was been released.
Beck did play on the song but his take was not used, being the covers were already printed, the error went out.
