  Who You Calling a Jackass? - Lat34.com
Then I was afraid to call Jeff and say anything, and a few weeks later I finally decided to call Jeff and talk to him, and he fired me. Which I deserved, because it wasn't the first time I pulled a move like that.
I made the agreement with Jeff Tremaine that if I drank that I was allowed one bad day where I could show up to work drunk or on pills and not get yelled at for it.
Nothing had come out like it ever before, and then I talked to Jeff Tremaine on the phone and introduced myself, and his first words were, "Chris Pontius, you're a very interesting young man." And I told him I should write for his magazine, and he thought so too.

 Jackass: The Movie (2002)
The Jackasses not only revisit old territory — several Party Boy (Pontius) appearances, the inevitable street-chase scenes featuring the gigantic Preston Lacy and diminutive Jason "Wee Man" Acuña, and, of course, harassing Bam's incredibly patent mom, April, and dad, Phil — they head to Tokyo, Florida, and Mexico for international shenanigans and generous beer consumption.
Lest you think that Jackass is merely a chaotic assemblage, rest assured that director/producer Jeff Tremaine keeps the action connected via intercut shorts that serve up some of the movie's best guffaws.
One involving a deluge of water is just brilliant: One minute Knoxville is there; the next, he's just gone, swept away by the power of nature.

Jackass: The Movie - Guest Critic Review
Director Jeff Tremaine shows no imagination or sense of style in trying to helm a film that was suppose to be kinetically cunning and crafty in its humiliating hoopla.
Instead, Tremaine lazily patches together a string of monotonous sequences that has all the appeal and shock value of a thirsty dog drinking out of a toilet bowl.
Consequently, Knoxville and fellow collaborators Tremaine and Spike Jonze are just giving the twisted public what they want.

TheMovieBoy Review: Jackass: The Movie (2002)
At the beginning and end of "Jackass: The Movie," based on the now-canceled MTV reality series, there is a warning to audiences that the stunts they are about to see or have just seen should not be tried at home.
Directed by Jeff Tremaine, "Jackass: The Movie" makes a serious case for why a film critic's job is sometimes a tricky one.
For one, the picture really is simply three uncensored episodes strung together, with no story to speak of and some of the most execrable footage sure to ever be found in an R-rated studio production.

It's mindless drivel, really, with a few minor insertions about the actual filmmaking process that don't really make any difference as to whether or not you enjoy the movie more.
I'm sure that the film's fans are going to eat this up faster than a yellow snowcone, but like the movie, this puppy has a set audience.

Starting things off is a commentary track by director Jeff Tremaine, cinematographer Dimitry Elyashkevich and chief hooligan Johnny Knoxville.
This turned out to be a little bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, it was really a much better commentary than I expected, but on the other, I really would have like more stories about the aftermaths of their stunts.

They seem to remember quite a lot as far as who did what during stunts, where they filmed things and actually share a good amount of technical details (got to love where Tremaine felt like they were making a "real" movie during the muscle stimulator scene).
Fans of the movie will surely want to listen to this, since a lot of the facts are actually really amusing and hold your interest.

The disc offers up plenty of extras, including 27 minutes of additional footage, some of which was undoubtedly excised to secure the film's "R" rating.
There also are two commentaries, one from director Jeff Tremaine, cinematographer Dimitry Elyashkevich, and Johnny Knoxville that dishes on the difficulties, mistakes and injuries experienced throughout the ragtag, $5 million production; and another from the rest of the Jackass cast that consists mostly of insults being slung back and forth.
The extras are rounded out by MTV's "Making of Jackass: The Movie," outtakes (featuring the film's failed "Rube Goldberg" finale), promo spots, two music videos, the theatrical trailer, cast-and-crew biographies, and a photo and poster gallery.
