Jefferson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri, and included the mean center of U.S. population in 1980.
The county was organized in 1818 and named in honor of former President Thomas Jefferson.
In the county the population was spread out with 27.90% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 31.80% from 25 to 44, 22.50% from 45 to 64, and 9.20% who were 65 years of age or older.
