Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana Genealogical Records Information
Most persons in thinking of Louisiana envision the state as swamp land in the south section inhabited by French descent "Cajun" people, or in the north, as rolling red clay hills settled basically by Anglo Saxon "rednecks".
The most notable contrast is the existence of a vast prairie land extending across hundreds of thousands of acres of southwest Louisiana, and as logic would have it, the area was generally developed by Midwestern Iowa prairie farmers who resettled here and changed their grain cultivation habits from wheat to rice.
Unlike that of its neighboring Louisiana communities, the history of the Jennings Settlement is unique.
