Perhaps it was the confidence of youth, perhaps it's my reddened, teary eyes, but it was clear to me that Hanna's rink out-curled the veterans from Nova Scotia with significant poise and grace, coming through with a 7 to 4 victory.
Far from being intimidated, the lovely ladies from Ottawa played an aggressive match reminiscent of a young Sandra Schmirler, and will surely be a team to beat as the tournament winds on.

I am not a very happy camper after seeing Manitoba's Jennifer Jones make that incredible shot in the 10th end to take the Scott Tournament of Hearts over my new curling crush, Ontario's Jenn Hanna.
The shot that Hanna made in the 6th had me all pumped up.
Instead of throwing the "safe" shot, a guard to prevent Manitoba from taking two, she wanted to thread the needle between two guards, which would jam her own rock in the rings and leave it as shot rock.

Their son Richard plays in a competitive league at the Ottawa Curling Club, with approximately thirty current, or former Brier players, including names like Jenn Hanna (2005 Canadian Scott Tournament of Hearts finalist) and Craig Saville (former world junior champion and currently with Glenn Howard).
Last week, Richard and his team were up against the current Canadian Brier Champion, Jean-Michel Ménard.
