  Jerry Lewis - Congresspedia
Jerry Lewis, California Republican and chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said the Predator unmanned aerial vehicle, used for missile attacks on terrorist lairs, is a shining example of the best of earmarks.
Lewis stated, "One of our jobs (in Congress) is to help California and my district get as much of their money back as possible." He continued by arguing that earmarks comprise less than 1 percent of the $900 billion in federal funding that passes through the House Appropriations Committee.
Lewis' aide in charge of tracking defense appropriations "is a military officer on the Pentagon's payroll, an apparent violation of House rules and a possible conflict of interest"[59].

Jerry Lewis (born Joseph Levitch on March 16, 1926), is an American comedian, actor, film producer, writer and director known for his slapstick humor and his charity fund-raising telethons for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Lewis tried his hand at singing in the 1950s, having a chart hit with the song "Rock-A-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody" (a song originated by Al Jolson and popularized by Judy Garland) as well as the song, "It All Depends On You" in 1958.

Jerry Lewis (politician) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In November 1978, Lewis was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth United States Congress, with 61 percent of the vote, and has served there ever since.
The basic allegations are that Lewis, by virtue of his chairmanship of the House Appropriations Committee (since January 2005), and his prior chairmanship of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been able, through earmarks and other methods, to steer hundreds of millions of dollars to clients of Lowery's firm.
Lewis, who not faced serious opposition in his re-election campaigns in the past ten years, has used his campaign and PAC funds in support of other Republicans, something that helped him become chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Film Freak Central - Jerry on DVD: "The Legendary Jerry" Collection
Lewis at his worst was at least skilful in rendering his grotesqueries, but hidden behind costumes and facial hair, he's mostly operating on autopilot.
Lewis' inability to bring gag and soliloquy into one formal unit does him no favours and blows any humorous capital by pretending we've been watching something serious all along--especially since his rampage across the set is far more pointed comment than any eleventh-hour verbal diarrhea.
It must be said that Jerry Lewis was never an inept performer--he merely colluded in the sentimentalizing of his capricious talent, dulling its edge and demeaning himself into a cross-eyed punching bag for the "straight" cast.

Not wanting to squander Jerry Lee's gifts on the sordid world of show business, she enrolled him in a bible college in Waxahatchie, TX, secure in the knowledge that her son would now be exclusively singing his songs to the Lord.
The split personality of Lewis, torn between the sacred and the profane (rock & roll music), is something that has eaten away at him most of his adult life, causing untold aberrant personality changes over the years with no clear-cut answers to the problem.
