Rough Edge: Napalm Death CD Reviews
Guitarists Pintado and Harris are a formidable tandem - on "Order Of The Leech" they release pent-up aggression in the form of one tightly constructed riff after another.
Napalm Death is Mark "Barney" Greenaway on vocals, Jesse Pintado and Mitch Harris on guitar, Shane Embury on bass, and Danny Herrera on drums.
The line-up has included Barney Greenaway on vocals, Lee Dorian on vocals, Shane Embury on bass, Bill Steer on guitar, Jesse Pintado on guitars, Mitch Harris on guitars, Michael Harris on drums, and Danny Herrara on drums.

 Terrorizer
Mick and Jesse didn't know it at the time but the Birmingham-Los Angeles friendship they forged in 1988, eventually proved to be crucial to the development of the worldwide grindcore scene that would follow.
During 87-88, Terrorizer played many shows at their local venue, Hoover Park, but found it hard to break out of the local band scene.
Pete had left LA to join Morbid Angel in Tampa earlier in the year, and Jesse relocated to England to join Napalm Death on the eve of the Grindcrusher tour.

This irritating state of the current popular rock scene was a subject broached over many Birmingham-based Saturday nights on-the-town in late '98 by Napalm Death men Shane Embury and Jesse Pintado, and then Cradle of Filth drummer Nick Barker.
A few sessions on a 10-watt practice amp and unpredictable four track recorder later, they were ready to go into producer Andy Sneap's backstage studio.

Jesse Pintado (1989-) - Jesse was Napalm Death's third guitarrist.
Before joining Napalm, Jesse had already played in a Grind/Death Project called TERRORIZER (they released a record called "World Downfall" through Earache, as MOSH 16) which featured the sickening talents of David Vincent and Pete Sandoval (both of Morbid Angel) and a singer called Oscar Garcia (who sung on the deathcore act NAUSEA).
Danny was a friend of Jesse who lived in sunny Los Angeles, U.S.A. Jesse used to jam with him regularly (playing lot's of Napalm songs and all), and it didn't take long for him to think about contacting the talented young drummer when Mick left.

The addition of Pintado and Harris particularly opened up a new realm of possibilities for Napalm Death, and the band indeed stretches out musically.
Whereas the sound of Scum and Enslavement had been characterized by one- or two-minute grindcore blasts, the sound of Harmony Corruption is more expansive.
The songs range from two minutes to over five, and Pintado and Harris often interweave their guitar playing into a dense, dizzying wall of sound that never quite relents until the album reaches its final conclusion.

When it was ultimately set into motion, the boys decided to keep the budget miniscule for today's standards and spend as little time in the studio as possible.
Jesse and Shane wrote the songs with a 4-track beforehand, and when they met up with Nick in the studio they just filled him in on what to play for each song right on the spot.
The line-up says it all: Peter Tagtgren - vocals (Hypocrisy vocalist), Jesse Pintado - guitar (Napalm Death's guitarist), Shane Embury - bass (Napalm Death's bassist), and Nicholas Barker - drums (former Cradle of Filth's, actual Dimmu Borgir's drummer).

Nick, Jesse and Shane are all members of Brujeria, so I assumed the music would be along those lines.
The music has a feel of mid 80s-early 90s grind/death and is reminiscent of early Repulsion, Terrorizer and Napalm Death, only with more musical skill involved.

For the most part the group succeeds -- guitarist Jesse Pintado deserves the majority of the credit for some truly creative guitar playing; his pre- Napalm Death performance on World Downfall keeps the album interesting and somewhat remarkable considering its age.
Without another guitarist to back him up, Pintado keeps the music grinding as his tone remains wall-shaking, his tempo breakneck, and his riffs ever-changing.
In sum, Pintado no doubt be should considered as one of grindcore's true pioneers, along with Trey Azagthoth and Bill Steer.

The major acquisition was of Benediction's vocalist Barney, otherwise known as Mark Greenway.
American guitarists Mitch Harris and Jesse Pintado (ex Terrorizer) were hired to fill Steer's shoes, giving the band an Anglo-American mix (furthered the following year when Danny Herrera replaced Mick Harris).
After the novelty value of the first two albums and their blast beat innovations, Napalm Death opted for a death metal route for ' Harmony Corruption ', no doubt influenced by recording with Scott Burns at the one time death metal hotbed of Morrisound Studio's.
