Jessore is a district in south western region of Bangladesh.
Jessore District (khulna division) with an area of 2578.20 sq km, is bounded by jhenaidaha and magura districts on the north, satkhira and khulna districts on the south, narail and Khulna districts on the east, West Bengal of India on the west.
Jessore saw its share of action during the Bangladesh Liberation War remaining the pivotal point of action between the Mitro Bahini (India and Bengali guerillas) and the Pakistan Army.
