JetBlue is one of only a few U.S. airlines that made a profit following the sharp downturn in airline travel following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

JetBlue's foray into the competitive Atlanta market sparked a turf battle with Delta (DAL: Research, Estimates), whose Song airlines was seen by industry insiders as an attempt to grab a share of the ever-growing low-fare market segment, and fellow low-cost carrier AirTran (AAI: Research, Estimates).
JetBlue is scheduled to end its Atlanta service on Dec. 4, after only seven months of service, in response to the increased competition from both carriers.

It's a great joy to sit in Row 22, watch everyone in front of you spring up to grab for their carry-ons as soon as the fasten seatbelt sign is extinguished upon arrival, and realize that there is an exit right behind you and that the cattle herding time has been cut in half.
JetBlue seems to have shaken up the airline industry with its innovative business model, and I'm hoping more airlines like them will appear on the scene in the next few years.
I recently flew one of jetBlue's new routes from Orlando to Boston and was extremely impressed with the airline.
