This was in Jethou and the origins of the current large population.
When the French monasteries in the islands were suppressed under Henry V in 1414 then Jethou left the hands of Mont St Michel after 350 years.
Between this time and 1717 Jethou was not officially inhabited but may have been a home for pirates.

The lion is presumably from the Guernsey (and English) CoA, with the leaf on the top which distinguishes the Guernsey CoA from the otherwise identical ones of Jersey and England.

A Census of population and households is carried out in the Islands every 5 years, the last Census being held on 29th April 2001.
The Census was organised by the former Economics and Statistics Unit of the Advisory and Finance Committee for the Island's of Guernsey, Herm, Jethou and Alderney.
The Census revealed that the population of Guernsey, Herm and Jethou was 59,807, and that of Alderney was 2,294.
