		Two Jetstream 31 aircraft customised with Tornado avionics systems were commissioned into the fleet of the Royal Saudi Air Force for training in advanced navigation systems.

		In 1978 Scottish Aviation was absorbed as a Division of British Aerospace, and on December 5, 1978 a new version of the Jetstream was announced.
		The Jetstream 32 is further uprated (1020shp TPE331-12) and features the Edam installation to wings and tail improving the aerodynamics, as well as cockpit upgrades.
		The aircraft departed from Auckland on November 30, 1998 for Latrobe, PA. The registration was cancelled on December 4, 1998, and the aircraft became N651VN.

		The Jetstream 31 was preferred because it was pressurized, had good passenger comforts and the air speed to reach the cities of interest.
		Jetstream International Airlines (name chosen to mirror the airline's future) was launched in December 1983, with the delivery of two sleek 19-passenger aircraft becoming the second North American airline to offer Jetstream service.
		Jetstream became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Piedmont Aviation August 1, 1986, operating as Piedmont Commuter after a six year history as an Erie-based regional carrier serving points in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Maryland.
