JHANG, Aug 10: The Livestock Department officials, most of whom hail from districts of Khanewal, Vehari and Multan, are opposing the proposed establishment of a "Research centre for conservation of Sahiwal cattle" at Jhang, as they do not relish the idea of serving at a place far away from their home districts.
Secondly, the Jhang district, apart from dozens of small and medium livestock farms, had nine major farms of this breed of cattle - Bukhari farms, Shah Jewna farms, Gill farms, Green Sands farms, Chadhar farms, Kot Amir farms, Gillani farms, Sial farms and Shamsher Khan farms.
Thirdly, being a district headquarters, he said Jhang enjoyed the facilities of natural gas, uninterrupted power supply, far better educational and health facilities for the officers, personnel and their families as compared to Kutcha Kho, which was a rural area.

Jhang is situated at Latitude 31.15° N and Longitude 72.22° E in Punjab province which is West Punjab now in Pakistan.
Jhang has its boundaries with the districts Sargodha in north, Gujranwala in northeast, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh in east, Khanewal and Muzaffargarh in south, Leiah and Bhakkar in west and Kushab in northwest.
This while area comprised forest in past and no kind of cultivation was possible for almost 100 years before the British colonial government established a canal system and the town of Lyallpur (now Faisalabad) on 975 acres (395 ha) of land, which is now the textile industry hub of Pakistan.

JHANG, Feb 23: Residents affected by the recent flood in Chenab have complained that government departments and agencies had done very little relief work in their villages.
The flash flood in the Chenab devastated thousands of acres of standing wheat crop in villages on either side of the river in all three Tehsils of Jhang district.
However, no loss of life or cattle was reported from any part of the district, as the flood water did not travel very far and affected only the villages situated on river banks.

According to the press release, Rs20 million are to be spent on the establishment of a girls degree college in village 18-Hazari and Rs 3,200,000 have been allocated for the repair of the buildings of girls primary schools at Choukan Janpur, Malkana, Binda Rasheed, Kot Bahadur and Jamali Kalan.
The UC nazim said that instead of spending huge funds to improve the election prospects of his son-in-law, the district nazim could have spent the amount for constructing a post-graduate block at the degree college for girls, Jhang Sadar.

He alleged that opposition groups used abusive language during the polls, which is against the code of conduct of the election, however Lal Haveli group participated in the elections by respecting all the stipulations of election commission.
