The content of Jikji was first written by Goryeo Dynasty's renowned Buddhist's monk Baekunhwasang and his principles "Seokchak" and "Daljam" transcribed it into metal print in 1377.
'Jikji' is not available in the republic of Korea, but the National Library in France retains the 2nd volume of the original version.
The main objective of "Bring Jikji back home Campaign" is to let the world know the excellence of the printing technology and practices in Korea and to remind the Koreans of the historical implication of the printing culture that prospered in Cheongju.

The Biliothèque nationale claims that the Jikji is part of a world heritage of the history of human invention, and not simply a national artifact of Korean culture or of any one country.

The first printing metal in the world, Bul Jo Jikji Sim Che Yo Jeol, was invented in the period of dynasty of Koryeo, 3 years after the King of Woo ruled the country.
The Jikiji was published in 1377 for the purpose of teaching Buddhism to disciples of Buddha, and today it helps Buddhists to understand the mind of Buddha through practicing Zen mediation.
Examples of Jikji are displayed on the granite wall in the museum, and the dome of the thatched house has examples from the Joseon period.

I have in front of me as I write this message, my copy of a facsimile edition of the Baegun Hwasang Chorok Buljo Jikji Simche Yojeol (Jikji for short) that was presented to all the participants in the meeting.
It was stated that this was not the first book printed in Korea using moveable metal type but the oldest surviving.
The process was stated to have been used from about 1300 and the Jikji was printed in 1377.
