 Penticton & Wine Country - Pre-written Stories
But Olympian Jill Savege maintains that she and her husband Aaron fell in love with the countryside around Penticton well before she ever became established as an elite-level triathlete, and that their commitment to move to the Valley was far more influenced by the region’s natural beauty than it was by its world-class training environment.
Jill and Aaron moved to Penticton six years ago; and though Jill had watched the Ironman a couple of times before re-locating, her aspirations at the time were quite modest.
Since turning professional in 2001, Savege has been a force to be reckoned with on the World Cup circuit; though non-triathletes should note that she now competes in the “Olympic distance” events which are considerably shorter (yet no less challenging), than the Ironman distance.

 TriEdmonton 2004
The good news is that Jill Savege, Canada's top-ranked triathlete, is on a roll and looking to peak for the ITU World Cup event here on July 13.
The bad news for triathlon fans -- although it's good news for Savege and the rest of the elite ITU female triathletes -- is that Siri Lindley, winner of the Edmonton event the last two years and two-time defending world champion, has retired.
Again, however, that's also a good news scenario because Savege, winner of two World Cup events last fall, is taking advantage of Lindley's retirement to work with the American who has been the world's best female triathlete the last two years.
