For 1976, Peter Gregg drove BMW Brumos-entered CSL's but he hedged his team's bets by having Jim Busby drive 9114 on a bonus scheme whereby Busby was rewarded with prize money the higher he placed in the races.
Busby did very well with 9114, scoring four outright victories in Camel GT events (Ontario, Sears Point, Mid-Ohio, and Laguna Seca), as well as three third and one second place overall finishes.
At the end of 1976, Jim Busby sold 9114 to Charles Mendez, the Sebring 12-Hour race promoter and Mendez raced the car just twice, (Sebring and Road Atlanta), before selling the RSR to his friend Dave Cowart of Tampa, FL.

Garlits defeated Tommy Allen, 6.85 to 6.89; John Nichols, 6.72 to 6.85; Carl Olson, 6.72 to 10.61; Jim Dunn, 6.70 to 7.58; and, in the final, spun the tires to an uncontested sixth NHRA national event victory at 7.03 over a broken Kenny Safford.

Newport Beach's Jim Busby took the lead on the final lap on Sunday and held on to win the Historic Grand Prix featuring Vintage Formula One race cars at Sears Point Raceway during the Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Wine Country Classic.
Busby, piloting a 1979 Tyrrell, was able to pass Steve Romak of Walnut Creek to take the checkered flag in the 10-lap feature race on the 12-turn, 2.52-mile twisting road course.
Busby posted an average speed of 93.334 mph and led four of the 10 laps.
