The older Crockett was an early member of the NWA, and his territory covered Virginia, North and South Carolina.
A tag team tournament was held for three years among the NWA promotions to honor the late Jim Crockett.

So to promote Beach Blast 1993 WCW was given a one million dollar budget to make a short commercial for the event.
The television title then was scrapped for a short while until Hacksaw Jim Duggan "found" the title in the trash on a February 2000 edition of Saturday Night and was made the champion and only defended it on WCW Saturday Night.

At the time, JCP and the NWA were practically one in the same, as JCP was the largest part of the massive Alliance.

Going to work for Crockett- Everyone went to Mid-Atlantic but him, as he was at home with an ailing wife who later died of kidney failure at about 22.
