Dinning is a director on the boards of Finning International Inc., Russel Metals Inc., Great Canadian Railtour Company Ltd., Shaw Communications Inc. and Western Financial Group Inc. He is the chairman of the Canadian Clean Power Coalition and serves on the boards of the Alberta Energy Research Institute and The Banff Centre.
