Surely Edgar will agree that a public official’s dishonesty about the affairs of government is a lot more serious than Jack Ryan not sharing with us every detail about the way he TRIED to have sex with his own wife, in his own private time.
Edgar is an honorable man and we know that he would never play the double standard game.
Edgar would never want history to record that he helped crucify a good man in 2004 for dishonest reasons, over what that man did in his private life.

I'm not questioning Bruno's (Illinois) patriotism here, but Edgar was the most credible candidate, the best and brightest hope for winning this race and taking back some modicum of dignity for the state government.
In my view Edgar was a slightly better manager fiscally, and less rapacious than the Ryan people that destroyed the Republican party, but you don't get to the Governor's Mansion through the Secretary of State's Office with out a good deal of the culture of corruption rubbing off on you.
Her only chance is that all the angry democrats switch and vote for the candidate farther to the left.
