James Bremond Evans (born November 5, 1946 in Longview, Texas) is a former umpire in Major League Baseball who worked in the American League from 1971 to 1999.
Evans began umpiring Little League games at age 14, where his playing experience as a catcher helped in judging balls and strikes.
Evans is one of seven umpires in history who have worked in two perfect games, having been the third base umpire for Mike Witt 's perfect game on September 30, 1984, and the second base umpire for David Cone 's perfect game on July 18, 1999.

Evans, a St. Matthews real-estate agent, is organizing a "Closing the Gap" celebration to commemorate the 40th anniversary of a plan to build an East End bridge.
Of course that bridge was never built, but Evans sees light at the end of the tunnel with the recent announcement that Congress has approved $40 million to help Kentucky and Indiana in early work on the proposed Ohio River bridges.

William Lawrence Evans Jr., son of the late William L. and Velma Mae Jackson Evans, was born at Fairview on Jan. 7, 1927 and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Dec. 28, 2001, at the age of 74.
Evans had spent his entire life in Stoddard County and was a resident of Bloomfield at the time of his passing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jim Evans; and by two sisters, Wanda Pobst and Maurene Box.

The family of Edward R. and Sarah E. Evans first moved to Forestville in 1893 after homesteading in Nebraska and living in everything from a “dugout” to a sod house and finally a frame house.
My Grandmother Sarah (Givens) Evans’; brother John Melville Givens also lived in Forestville and is buried in the Forestview cemetery as are several of the Evans family including my Greatgrandmother Virginia (Evans) Vestle.
Jim’s wife was Minnie and their daughter was Zola.
