James Samuel "Jim" Everett III (born January 3, 1963 in Emporia, Kansas) is a former quarterback in the NFL.
Everett attended Purdue University and was selected in the first round of the 1986 NFL Draft.
Everett played for the Los Angeles Rams from 1986 to 1993, the New Orleans Saints from 1994 to 1996 and ended his career with a stint with the San Diego Chargers in 1997.

Jim Rome is like the weak little kid on the playground who goads bigger kids to fight each other because it excites him, while he stands off to the side giggling, unhurt and blameless.
Jim Rome is the man. The guy is a friggin man. I mean, here's a guy who talks his talk up until a 200+ pound NFL quarterback steps into his area and tells him he won't keep talkin smack.

At some point, when Everett was still playing for the New Orleans Saints (talk about a misnomer), Rome took to consistently referring to him as "Chris" Everett - a wordplay on Chris Evert, the female tennis star and no doubt intended to impugn the jock's manhood, his playing ability, penis size or whatever.
Everett let it get under his, uh, skin in any case.

Funny that all the other players of the time had to take it, and he couldn't so he had to prove how tough he was by going after someone half his size.
The happy ending is that he sucked and got dumped because of it and now virtually no one remembers his name, or his teammates because the whole team sucked and was almost bad enough to challenge the Saints for 0-18 and Rome went on and had a career.
